Extra Curricula Activities

Byron Bay Public School provides a variety of programs extension programs for students who identified as Gifted and Talented.  These include:

• Debating and Public Speaking
• Student Leadership programs
• Talent Quests
• Academic Competitions
• Sports Teams – success at representative state level in swimming and athletics has been an indicator of the quality of the sports program offered at Byron Bay.  A wide variety of sports are offered, including surf life saving, taking advantage of our wonderful natural environment

• Band - any child may join the band program, but also talented children are targeted for inclusion.

• Choir

Band

The bands program is two-fold:

• 1.      Half hour individual tuition with expert tutors

• 2.      Weekly band rehearsal. BBPS has 3 bands:

1. New Wave (beginners)
2. Intermediate
3. Senior

• Performance Opportunities Include:-

1. Band bashes with other schools
2. Arts Extravaganzas
3. Beach Hotel on Father’s Day
4. Band Recital at the Byron Bay Community and Cultural Centre at the end of the year

Choir

3 choirs have been established.

Stage 1 where all children are invited to participate.

Stage 2 & 3 an audition is required.

1. Arts Extravaganzas

2. Eisteddfods

3. Sydney Opera House Choral Festival
4. Local Community Organisations e.g. Aged care facilities
5. Coastal Kids Concert
6. Christmas Tour
