Welcome to
the Byron Bay Public School web site. We hope the information on this
site is informative and valuable to you.
Our
primary school has a rich heritage having served the Byron Bay community
for 114 years. This includes a healthy mix of established Byron Bay
families and newer arrivals to our beautiful area. We are very proud of
our school environment which includes a combination of grassed playing
areas, covered outdoor learning area, fixed equipment playing facilities
and many beautiful native trees and shrubs.
The
features of our school curriculum include strong literacy, numeracy,
sporting and arts programs, excellent technology resources and an
emphasis upon the importance of interpersonal relations. Our school
class structure is based around Stages which are two-year continuums of
learning with an emphasis upon a developmental curriculum (rather than
on age-grade expectations). This approach facilitates opportunities for
greater continuity of instruction and flexible progression for
students.
The single
most important aspect of our school is our people –dedicated staff,
supportive families and wider community and caring students. We have
high expectations of our school, our students and ourselves.
We are
proud of our reputation within our community as an educational
institution that provides opportunities for all students so as to ensure
our “success for all” ethos is realized. New families are encouraged to
contact the school to arrange a tour of the school while parents of
kindergarten students should enquire about our Kindy orientation
